Empty Diamonds & the Diamond Cutter Sutra:
Mindful Reflections on Professor Brian Cox’s Wooing of
‘Stars’ with Misleading Tales
of Quantum WooWoo and Astrological Bottom Tattoos.
|
Whilst it is true that a great deal of the details of the experimental science which is presented in
TV programmes presented by physicists Brian Cox, Al-Khalili and others are correct, the overall metaphysical
perspective within which these details are presented is for the most part misleading
because they do not accord with the overall implications of modern physics, quantum physics in particular.
The metaphysical framework which underpins the general worldview of the programmes
presented by both Cox and Al-Khalili largely corresponds to what physicist Henry Stapp refers to as a ‘knownto-be-false’ materialist perspective. The inappropriate materialist metaphysical dogmatism which
underlies such programmes leads to some misleading nonsense being presented without any challenge.
This article cuts through the metaphysical madness.

The Self-Aware Emptiness of the Quantum Universe
|
Some of quantum physicist Wojciech H. Zurek’s remarks seem to indicate that he thinks that his analysis undermines the
‘ultimate evidence’ that the classical world is entangled and dependent upon consciousness.
However, a rigorous analysis shows that the opposite is the case; Zurek’s epiontic quantum
Darwinian classical universe is ultimately dependent upon consciousness. It would seem that the
entire epiontic process of the evolution of reality is geared towards the production of ever greater
levels of sentient awareness and the material world is an ‘advertising billboard’ for a realm of
solidity amidst the ‘unreal’ ‘dream stuff’ of the quantum realm within which individualized
consciousness can grow to fruition. And the reason that the apparent solidity of the apparently
material universe comes into being is because the universe is nothing more than an enormous and
multitudinous ultimately immaterial epiontic information exchange which takes place within the
quantum ‘dream stuff is made of.’

The Quantum Truth of the Buddhist
Metaphysics of the ‘Two Truths’ or ‘Two
Realities’
|
According to the ‘Buddhist’ writer Stephen Batchelor the core Buddhist doctrine of the ‘two
truths’ or ‘two realities’ is a major mistake on the part of Buddhist practitioners and
philosophers throughout the ages. Although this doctrine has been central to Buddhist
thinking since the time of the Buddha, Batchelor says that it is a serious mistake, and is
completely unscientific. This article shows that it is Batchelor who is desperately mistaken
because modern quantum theory has validated the metaphysical claim that the ‘classical’ or
‘conventional’ world is an illusion which is derived from the deeper quantum realm. Thus
the division into the ‘classical’ realm and the ‘quantum’ realm maps onto the Buddhist
distinction between the ‘conventional’ mode of reality and the ‘ultimate’ mode of reality. Far
from Buddhist philosophy being ‘unscientific’, it is Batchelor who displays ignorance of
modern science.

Engaging Buddhism with a False Imagination:
Reflections on Some Misrepresentations of Buddhist Philosophy by
Western
philosophers, & a Quantum Buddhist Mind-Only Solution.
|
The metaphysical implications of the Yogācāra-Vijnanavada ‘consciousness-only’ school of
Buddhist psycho-metaphysics has become an issue of some debate amongst some Western
philosophers with an interest in Buddhist philosophy. The ‘canonical’ view amongst many
significant scholars is that, as the name suggests, this perspective asserts that the ultimate
nature of the process of reality is nondual primordial consciousness/awareness. On this
‘Idealist’ view the external apparently material world is considered to be a mind-created
illusion. However, some contemporary Western philosophers are offering seemingly more
materialist, or non-committal as to the existence of an external material world, versions. This
article examines such claims and exposes their deficiencies. A quantum-Mind-Only
Yogācāra-Vijnanavada perspective is explored.

The Myth of a Mind Independent Reality
and the Metaphysics of Nondual Epiontic Quantum Mindnature
|
The notion of the ‘existence’ of a ‘Mind Independent Reality’
(MIR) is ill conceived if one understands this concept as indicating that there is some
‘ultimate’ or final aspect of reality which is absolutely and totally beyond the mind’s
comprehension or experience. By elucidating the central features of the Buddhist Mind-Only
metaphysical account of the operation of the ‘three natures’ of fundamental Mindnature in
the context of modern quantum physics and quantum field theory I set out to show that a
‘Metaphysics of Nondual Epiontic Quantum Mindnature’ provides a comprehensive and
exhaustive account of the process of reality; an account which has no room or necessity for a
mind-independent reality (MIR)
